Haverfordwest Farmers Market scooped an award for best Market of its kind in the UK earlier in 2006. As any visitor will tell you, you'd be hard-pressed to find a livelier market in West Wales. In this special feature we took a trip to the riverside in Haverfordwest on one of the fortnightly Market Days, to meet just some of the people behind some of the UK's most successful stalls.

Christine is the driving force behind 'Homemade Country Preserves', who you'll see manning a stand packed with jams, chutneys and preserves. Made at home by her and her husband Jeff, one pan of chutney can take just four to five hours just to cook, quite apart from the preperation beforehand.
The business has been running for 12 years, and all started at a car boot sale; Christine raised nine children who would frequently "go out and pick things", from which she would make jams and chutneys. Christine saw an opportunity after a sell-out day for her pickled onions at a car-boot sale, and they've never looked back. They now attend Haverfordwest Farmers Markets, and you may well see them at some food festivals too.
